The
Belize Canoe Association (BCAnoe) was formed January 1st, 2001 by
Elvin Penner, Julian Sherrard, and Luis Garcia and was registered
at The General Registry in Belize City, Belize on February 2nd,
2001.
BCAnoe aspires to be the recognized body
for canoe racing in Belize.
Our goals are:
1. To promote canoeing as a sport, which can be enjoyed by families
and people of all ages, as well as serious racing for the enjoyment
of both canoeing teams and spectators alike.
2. To, once a year, send the best Belizean team to at least one
international canoeing event.
3. BCAnoe is not-for-profit. All proceeds are reinvested in the
sport, in the form of training and encouragement for members of
the general public who would like to learn to canoe, and also in
an environmental aspect, in the form of educating people on how
to maintain a natural and un-polluted environment.
BCAnoe organizes and holds a series of
canoe races each year. A calendar of events will be made available
by January 31st of each year.
Other canoe races, not organized by the
BCAnoe, can be sanctioned/approved by BCAnoe if they follow certain
guidelines.
